Scottish Motorsport Marshals Club (SMMC) is the only Club in Scotland that’s dedicated to all four-wheel motorsport disciplines. There are very few motorsport events held north of the border where SMMC is not playing a significant role with either our trained personnel or specialist equipment being involved.

We’re not just close to the action... we’re PART of it!

Dene Wicks receives the 2023 Jim Clark Marshalling Award

Dene Wicks received SMMC’s prestigious Jim Clark Marshalling Award, from Club Chairman Garry Headridge last weekend. The award recognises a significant or meritorious contribution to motor sport marshalling in Scotland.

Extension to deadline for Acquired Rights Scheme

Motorsport UK have announced that the closing date for applications under the Acquired Rights Scheme has been extended. All paperwork must now be submitted to Motorsport UK by 31st March 2024.

Last minute plea for marshals - Roger Albert Clark Rally, Dalbeattie Stage - Saturday 25 November

SS16, the Lock Horsburgh Dalbeattie Stage of the Roger Albert Clark Rally, is being run in memory of long time SMMC member Lock Horsburgh. Stage Commander Craig Munro Fisher would appreciate any offers of help from anyone, but particularly if you're willing to do arrivals and stop line timing.

The Scottish Association of Motor Sports Clubs has announced a comprehensive training programme for 2024 - and it covers lots of modules on Motorsport UK’s Marshal Development Pathway as well as continuing with the popular series of informal presentations.

We are deeply saddened to report the death of Club member Lock Horsburgh – Tartan 57 – a man who did as much behind the scenes as he did on events He did so much for Scottish motorsport and will be sadly missed.

Updates to Stage Rally Safety Requirements

The Stage Rally Safety Requirements have been updated. Edition 6 is effective from 1 November 2023. Written for single-venue and multi-venue stage rallying events (whether on closed roads or private land), the document will provide you with the additional requirements necessary to organise a rally.

A number of Radio Operators and Controllers are required to provide safety cover for The Armstrong Galloway Hills Rally. This year will bring a new twist to the 49th running of the event on September 16th, as the Galloway-based rally offers an innovative new concept for competitors, volunteers and fans alike, where competitors can compete in both daylight and night stages on the very same day!
