This morning, Garry Headridge, Chair of SMMC, has signed the Armed Forces Covenant on behalf of the Club. The Club has members who are serving members of our armed forces along with serving reservists and a number of veterans. We're incredibly proud of them and grateful for their service.

This morning, Garry Headridge, Chair of SMMC, has signed the Armed Forces Covenant on behalf of the Club, and Corporal Matthew Wilson – who holds both a Motorsport UK Rescue and Recovery licence – has been asked by the Trustees to become our Armed Forces Champion.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, are treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy, and society they serve with their lives.

Personnel from the Armed Forces and their families have long been involved in motorsport across a wide variety of roles – from competitors and service crew to volunteer marshals and officials.

As a Club, SMMC supports many events that are either on land owned or controlled by the military, or have competitors from the Armed Forces – for example, the British Army Motorsports Association. We have also supported the various fundraising event for the Army Benevolent Fund.

The Club has members who are serving members of our armed forces along with serving reservists and a number of veterans. We're incredibly proud of them and grateful for their service.

SMMC is a Club recognised by Motorsport UK, the national membership organisation and governing body for four-wheel motorsport in the UK, who signed the Armed Forces Covenant in February 2024.

We also operate the Motorsport Rescue Teams, provide the crew for the Fire Response Team, and have members who are On Circuit marshals (the Orange Army) at Knockhill Racing Circuit, who were recently re-awarded the Armed Forces Gold Covenant, after 5 years of commitment to and supporting of the Armed Forces.

At Knockhill this weekend, it's Round One of the 2025 Scottish Championship Car Racing, featuring the best of KMSC and SMRC racing championships with a packed grid over the weekend of Scottish Legends, Mod-Sports, Super Lap Scotland Championships. Also visiting on both days are the powerful and superfast DDMC Northern Saloons and Sports Cars adding colour and drama for the fans. Saturday will showcase the Scottish Mini and Scottish C1 Championships, while Sunday brings the Scottish Fiesta ST Cup and Scottish Classic Sports & Saloons Championships to the track. Saturday will also feature our Mini Mania Car Show, highlighting the best Mini's in town with special awards up for grabs and an exciting track parade for participating show cars.

This event will celebrate and honour the dedicated Armed Forces, NHS, and Blue Light personnel, offering them free entry for the weekend with valid ID. On Sunday, the Forces will host a variety of stands, adding a special touch to the event and providing an opportunity for all to show their appreciation for these essential services.
