We are extremely grateful to Stuart Robertson - ‘Clio Stu' of Renomotive - for donating a Renault Clio shell to SMMC to use as an extrication training car. Complete with a competition roll cage and race seats with harnesses, the car is a fantastic addition to our training resources, and we are indebted to Stuart for his generosity and support in donating the car for volunteer and official training.

They say that things come in threes. Well, here are three good news stories to start 2024.

The 2024 Scottish rally season will kick off on Sunday 18 February when Border Ecosse Car Club hold the Grant Construction Knockhill Stages. A number of radio marshals are needed to assist with the safe running of the event.

What a great way to start the week, month and year. We were delighted to receive notification in today's mail that SMMC had been nominated in Motorsport UK's Club of the Year Awards 2023. This is fantastic news and a welcome acknowledgment of all the work undertaken by the members of the Club.

The Snowman Rally team are disappointed to let you know that the event being planned for 2 March 2024 will not go ahead.

Dene Wicks received SMMC’s prestigious Jim Clark Marshalling Award, from Club Chairman Garry Headridge last weekend. The award recognises a significant or meritorious contribution to motor sport marshalling in Scotland.

Motorsport UK have announced that the closing date for applications under the Acquired Rights Scheme has been extended. All paperwork must now be submitted to Motorsport UK by 31st March 2024.

SS16, the Lock Horsburgh Dalbeattie Stage of the Roger Albert Clark Rally, is being run in memory of long time SMMC member Lock Horsburgh. Stage Commander Craig Munro Fisher would appreciate any offers of help from anyone, but particularly if you're willing to do arrivals and stop line timing.

The Scottish Association of Motor Sports Clubs has announced a comprehensive training programme for 2024 - and it covers lots of modules on Motorsport UK’s Marshal Development Pathway as well as continuing with the popular series of informal presentations.

We are deeply saddened to report the death of Club member Lock Horsburgh – Tartan 57 – a man who did as much behind the scenes as he did on events He did so much for Scottish motorsport and will be sadly missed.
