Scottish Motorsport Marshals Club (SMMC) is the only Club in Scotland that’s dedicated to all four-wheel motorsport disciplines. There are very few motorsport events held north of the border where SMMC is not playing a significant role with either our trained personnel or specialist equipment being involved.

We’re not just close to the action... we’re PART of it!

Coronavirus in Scotland - Volunteer appeal begins

The Scottish Government is launching a national campaign in a bid to recruit an army of volunteers to help tackle the coronavirus pandemic. Volunteers could be asked to support the NHS, other public services and established charities, and will be matched to the needs of their local community.

Rally & Cross Country Marshals Training - Saturday 4th April

In conjunction with the Scottish Association of Motor Sports Clubs, we were due to be running Marshals’ training in Duns next weekend but as with all other events meeting face to face isn’t possible. But that doesn’t mean that we can't run the training... So, in a first for Scotland we are going to be running a shortened version of the training by Webinar.

Motorsport UK suspends all permits and Certificates of Exemption until at least 30th April

You will be aware that lots of motorsport events were cancelled or postponed yesterday and today - and with Motorsport UK finally announcing today that it’s suspending all organising permits and Certificates of Exemption until at least 30th April 2020, it’s clear that the motorsport calendar for 2020 is going to be bleak.

Cancellations and postponements of various motorsport events across Scotland

To slow the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) people are being asked to stay at home as much as possible and avoid unnecessary social contact. As a consequence, a number of motorsport events across Scotland have today either been cancelled or postponed.

Request for Marshals - Beatson’s Building Supplies Jim Clark Rally

After the successful running of the Jim Clark Rally in November last year, the event returns to its traditional slot in the calendar for 2020, with a new sponsor in the form of Beatson’s Building Supplies. The dates for your diary are Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 May with a competitor’s shakedown on Friday 29 May. As usual, a large number of Marshals of all disciplines is required.

Motorsport UK statement regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

You will have seen from the latest news that the situation regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus) remains both fluid and serious. The World Health Organisation and the UK Department for Health have been issuing frequent updates and the advice remains that the situation is a public health emergency of international concern. Motorsport UK is following the advice from the government and taking a proportionate response.

Dunfermline Car Club is organising two events at the Royal Highland Showground, Ingliston, over the weekend of 28th/29th March 2020 and is looking for nine radio marshals for Saturday, and eight for Sunday.

The Scottish Association of Motor Sports Clubs has a training programme for marshals and officials of all levels of experience, from complete novice to guru level, and the courses are all free, and run by qualified instructors licensed by the Motorsport UK.

Formula One champion secures 5-Star status

The Jim Clark Motorsport Museum in Duns, Scottish Borders, is hosting a new exhibition, Clark on Canvas. This evocative exhibition of artworks depicts 1960s motor racing, when Jim Clark was the dominant driver. Visitors will be able to purchase paintings from the exhibition, which runs to 30 November 2020.
