I'm delighted to announce that Mike Gascoigne has agreed to become our new Club President in place of the late Andrew Cowan whose Memorial Service took place in Duns last weekend.

Mike is one of the three founder members of SMMC in 1973 alongside David Swinton and Peter Francis.

There are few members of the Club who will not be aware of the work that Mike has done for SMMC and for the sport in general over the years.

The Committee see this appointment as giving Mike proper recognition locally for all he has done since then not only for this Club but also for the sports governing body both here and in all the UK, for the Official positions he has held over the decades in the worlds of both Race and Rally and for his huge contribution to marshal training over the years - particularly in those heady days before training by PowerPoint became "de rigueur"!
