Marshals are always needed to help run safe events. Here are some opportunities to get involved – be PART of the action! Even if you have no experience, you will be paired with someone who has.

Marshals are still required for the Borders Competitions Jim Clark Rally and the Fintray House Hillclimb this weekend (22 – 24 May).

The ‘Clark’, a round of various championships including the British Rally Championship, runs stages on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday all in the area around Duns. Free camping is available on Friday and Saturday night in Duns. Contact the Chief Marshal, Dean Pugh (dean.pugh@me.com) or the Communications Officer, Pete Lawrence (pete@smmc.org.uk)

Saturday and Sunday sees competitors from the Guyson Scottish Hill Climb Championship and Highland Speed Championship tackle the tarmac at Fintray House in Aberdeenshire. If you are interested in helping, contact John Bruce (johnmbruce49@gmail.com). Again, camping is available on site.

Two events, different disciplines, different parts of the country, but both welcoming volunteer whether you are experienced or not – you will be paired with experienced marshals. You are also guaranteed a warm welcome (event if the weather tries otherwise).

The first weekend of June sees another busy calendar with the Scottish Summer Hill Rally, a round of the British Cross Country Championship, taking place near Lauder on 5, 6 and 7 June. There are still marshalling opportunities from timekeeping, radio, service and in stage. You can volunteer by sending a message to staffing@scottish-hillrally.co.uk. Free camping is available for all marshals (bit of a theme coming through here)

Alternatively, you could take a trip to Crail for the Airtech Summer Stages on 6 June. A round of the Carnegie Fuels Scottish Tarmack Rally Championship, the Blasting Magic Scottish Single Venue Rally Championship, AS Performance North of England Tarmacadam Rally Championship and the Junior 1000 Ecosse Challenge, marshals will receive a lunch voucher and memento. Keith Cowan is Chief Marshal and Pete Lawrence is Communications Coordinator.
