It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Clayton, a dedicated Marshal, Radio Controller and Stage Commander who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

John was a long-standing, committed and valued member of SMMC, giving his time, energy, and expertise generously over many years. As a Radio Controller, he was a calm and dependable presence at countless events, helping to ensure that everything ran smoothly and safely. His commitment and professionalism earned him the respect and appreciation of fellow marshals, organisers, and competitors alike.

Beyond his role, John was a familiar and friendly face, always willing to lend a hand, share his knowledge, or offer encouragement to others. He represented the very best of volunteering, contributing not only through his actions but also through the camaraderie and goodwill he brought to every event.

John’s passing, so soon after his late wife Sandra, leaves a significant gap in the motorsport community.
