Scottish Motor Racing Club are organising an EcoRally on the 11th June 2023, starting and finishing at Thirlestane Castle.
The first event of its kind in the UK, EcoRally Scotland intends to provide a great adventure for Electric Vehicle owners in Scotland.
The event is exclusively for road going electric vehicles and will run in a ‘regularity rally’ format. The event starts and finishes at the beautiful 16th Century Thirlestane Castle, in Lauder, and consists of a stunning road route of just over 100 miles, taking in the spectacular scenery and picturesque villages around the Scottish Borders, with a leisurely lunch break along the way.
Up to six marshals are required to manage time controls on the event.
They will be working in pairs and require their own transport (one car for each team), smartphone (for timing and messaging), and be able to read a map and drive to a specific location. There will be 2 or 3 controls for them to move between during the day. Breakfast and 2-course lunch with the competitors will be provided.
The day will consist of arrival at Thirlestane Castle at 9.30am for sign-on and briefing before heading out to set up and manage a time control. Lunch at Woll Golf Club near Selkirk, a different time control during the afternoon before returning to Thirlestane by 4pm to then depart.
