John Bennie receives the Jim Clark Marshalling Award from Club Chair, Garry HeadridgeGarry Headridge and some of the Club's Trustees popped into the Fire Response Team training day at Knockhill today to present the Jim Clark Marshalling Award to John Bennie.

John has been a strong supporter of the Club and its activities for a number of years and can be relied upon totally for their professional approach to ensuring events are run safely.

Starting his motorsport career on the bank at Ingliston, he tried a variety of marshalling roles before joining the SMMC Rescue team in 2010. This provided a stepping stone for him to join other Rescue Teams in the UK and in 2017 he became part of the Silverstone Rescue team. In fact, during his motorsport career he has attended more than 20 Formula1 meetings. Think how much that would have cost for admission tickets?

With his knowledge, experience and leadership skills, he was an ideal candidate to take on a mentoring role for some of our Trainee Rescue crew, and not being one to rest on his laurels, is now in the final stages of becoming a licensed Motorsport UK Trainer.

The JCMA is made to a member of the Club who, in the sole opinion of the Trustees, had made a significant or meritorious contribution to motor sport marshalling in Scotland. First awarded in 1994, John is the 18th Club member to receive the award. Read more about the Jim Clark Marshalling Award here.
