This weekend sees a celebration of those who dedicate their time to make motor sport possible around the world. As a Club we value each and every hour dedicated to the sport by our enthusiastic members who do it for the love of the sport. Thank you one and all.

Garry Headridge was unanimously endorsed as the Club Chair at the Club's AGM on Wednesday last week. Garry has been involved in motorsport since 1977 and is well known throughout the sport as a Licensed Radio Controller and the Motorsport UK Radio Co-ordinator for Scotland. He is also a Motorsport UK Licenced Trainer and an Interclub Rally Clerk of the Course.

A special documentary marking 25 years since Colin McRae became the first British driver to win the World Rally title will be broadcast later this week.

Pete Weall, Chair of the Scottish Association of Motor Sports Clubs (the Motorsport UK Regional Association), draws attention to the latest updated guidance from Motorsport UK which has just been published following further discussions this week with SportScotland to take account of the recently introduced five level COVID-19 Framework for Scotland.

Formula 1 must prepare for the future. A central message: The highest class of motorsport is working on becoming climate neutral.

Jon Bolton is the 2020 recipient of SMMC’s prestigious Jim Clark Marshalling Award, recognising a significant or meritorious contribution to motor sport marshalling in Scotland. He received the award from Club Chairman Nick Clarke during the SLS race meeting at Knockhill yesterday.

It is with great regret that the Scottish Hill Rally Club must announce the cancellation of the Scottish "Borders" Safari in November. The organisers have tried hard to make this work, and know that this decision will disappoint many people. The preparations will not be wasted however, as they intend to run this event next year, and are planning to be able to run both a Safari Plus, and a Hill Rally in 2021. Look out for further announcements on dates in the near future.

Following the Scottish Government announcements earlier this week about additional measures to control the spread of COVID-19, a number of rallies have been affected.

Radio crews are required for the Memorial Garden Stages Rally at Condor on 26 September. Please take a moment to respond even if you can’t attend as it really help us with planning.

Knockhill are looking for marshals to assist with the safe running of the British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy at Knockhill in September. If you like to see action, and lots of it, this is a great opportunity to get closely involved.
