The Scottish Government has today passed legislation that permits motorsports events, such as stage rallies, hill climbs and trials of speed, on closed public roads in Scotland.
Scotland has a long and proud tradition in the world of motorsports and the Scottish Government has recognised the need to balance the potential for economic benefit and public enjoyment from such events with a high degree of safety, both for spectators and road users.
It’s been a long time coming, so well done to everyone involved in making this happen!
With these rights come responsibilities for us all - and we must ensure that this new opportunity is embraced and treated with respect.
