We're keen to hear from anyone interested in joining our Motorsport Rescue Team and/or the Knockhill Fire Response Team.
If you’re over 18 and interested in getting involved, please get in touch.
This is a great opportunity to get involved in helping to improve the safety of hundreds of competitors, supporting teams, officials and spectators. Full training will be given for both teams.
The Motorsport Rescue Team provides immediate extrication and medical facilities at the scene of an incident. They cover all types of licensed motorsport events but are mostly involved in circuit racing, stage rallies and hill climbs.
The Fire Response Team at Knockhill responds to incidents on the track, in the pits or in the paddock areas, using a fast response vehicle specially equipped to deal with car fires (including EVs). They are an integral part of the Circuit’s emergency response arrangements - which includes marshals, recovery, rescue and medical teams. A new training programme has been developed for the Fire Response Team, with fire theory and specialist practical modules as well as first aid and burns management, EV awareness and driver training.
For both teams, you’ll need to feel comfortable with handling heavy and bulky equipment, and the ability to work calmly under pressure is essential.
We have a training day on Sunday 2nd July at Knockhill. If you would like to attend and have a chat about you can involved, please email training@smmc.org.uk for more information.
