Garry Headridge was unanimously endorsed as the Club Chair at the Club's AGM on Wednesday last week.
Garry joined the SMMC in 1989. He has served as Vice Chair of the Club for the last two years and was previously our Treasurer. He has been involved in motorsport since 1977 and is well known throughout the sport as a Licensed Radio Controller and the Motorsport UK Radio Co-ordinator for Scotland. He is also a Motorsport UK Licensed Trainer and an Interclub Rally Clerk of the Course.
Handing over the role during the AGM, outgoing Chair Nick Clarke said, "In Garry, you are getting an excellent new Chairman who I know will drive the Club forward carefully and energetically and I wish him all the best for his tenure."
Nick went on to thank all members for the part they individually and collectively have played in ensuring SMMC has remained and will remain at the forefront of Scottish Motorsport for the foreseeable future.
Garry responded by saying that he was humbled to be only the fifth Chairman of this Club in its near 50 year history and was quick to acknowledge Nick's relentless hard work in the last two years in driving the Club forward.
Watch out for Garry's first Chair's Chat in a few weeks.
