We are deeply saddened to report the death of Club member Lock Horsburgh – Tartan 57 – a man who did as much behind the scenes as he did on events He did so much for Scottish motorsport and will be sadly missed.

We are deeply saddened to report the death of Club member Lock Horsburgh.

It would be easy just to circulate the post issued by SAMSC last night reporting his passing, but that would not do justice to a man who did so much for Scottish motorsport. It's been humbling to see such an outpouring of tributes to Lock on Facebook in the last few hours from all aspects of the sport.

Lock was a man who did as much behind the scenes as he did on events. A long time Secretary of the Scottish Association of Motor Sports Clubs (I think 12 years), he was also our webmaster for a number of years, hosting the Club's website until 2019.

If he wasn’t a Clerk, Stage Commander or Safety Officer, Lock would turn his hand to radio – Tartan 57 – just as he did with Maureen less than two weeks ago on Mull.

We will circulate further details when they become available.

The funeral of Lock Horsburgh will be held on Tuesday 14th November at Kirkcaldy Crematorium at 3pm. There will be an opportunity to meet and share stories after the funeral at Oswald House Hotel (previously Dunnikier House Hotel).

The family would like to formally invite everyone who is able to attend in person to pay their respects to Lock to come along to the funeral and the hotel.

The family would also like to thank everyone for their kind words and support during this time.

Katy also has a special request for anyone coming along - she is hoping to collect as many memories and photos about Lock as she can and will be collecting them in a book dedicated to him. It can be as long or as short as you like, ie. helped him pull a car out a ditch at Otterburn; we went on a trip to x and he told me a story about…; his favourite saying was...
