I am pleased to announce that the SMMC Directors have appointed James Short as the Club’s COVID-19 Officer. He will work with the Committee on strategy, capacity, guidance and compliance issues as the sport starts to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

You will no doubt be aware of Motorsport UK’s plans to Restart Motorsport in July - https://www.motorsportuk.org/restart

One of the many requirements is for Clubs and Organisers to appoint a COVID-19 Officer to ensure compliance with any relevant guidelines.

As SMMC is heavily involved in supporting events with radio crews, rescue teams, medics and other marshals and officials, the Committee felt it was prudent and appropriate to choose a suitably qualified person quickly to fill this role and I am pleased to announce that the SMMC Directors have appointed James Short as the Club’s COVID-19 Officer.

This post will see James becoming a member of the Committee and he will work with the Directors and other Coordinators on strategy, capacity, guidance and compliance issues as the sport starts to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

James is a registered paramedic and member of the SMMC Rescue team.

The Club’s COVID-19 information page will stay active for the foreseeable future - https://www.smmc.org.uk/coronavirus
